Well, Facebook has recently announced that it's planning on changing its algorithm...again. So, what does this mean for your business?

Mark Zuckerberg wants to make our Facebook newsfeeds more personal so that we see more posts from our family and friends. Unfortunately, he's also made it clear that this update will likely reduce the reach of posts from local businesses and brands.
I understand that this news may be scary. But, don't worry, we're here to help! We’ve created a new social media plan that can help your business work with the algorithm change, rather than against it.
In this video, one of our Lead Digital Marketing Strategists, Lindsay Pridham, will explain the algorithm change, as well as show you how we can keep your posts in your followers’ newsfeed.
Watch our video or read our tips below to learn how to stay ahead of the curve and get past the algorithm change when it goes live.
What are some ways to get past the Facebook algorithm?
For starters, you'll want to be more strategic with your social posts. Remember that sometimes, less is more; if you post more frequently to combat the algorithm, it'll come across as spam and turn followers away.
You'll also want to start publishing more content that matches your followers' interests. Unless your content can grab the attention of your followers, they'll most likely scroll past your post while browsing their newsfeed.
So, using analytics tools such as Google Analytics, look at the social posts that your followers like and engage with the most on your business page. Then, use those posts as reference tools whenever you create new content.
By doing this regularly, you and your followers will become more familiar with your brand's voice on Facebook.
Lastly, to make sure your followers see your business on Facebook, you should suggest that they choose to see your posts first in their newsfeed.
When somebody likes your business, there is an option under the follow button on your page they can click that says "see first". This will allow anybody that follows your business to automatically see your newest post when they log into Facebook.
If you have some followers who are very loyal to your business, they'll most likely choose to see your posts first in their newsfeed if you ask.
Before the algorithm change becomes active, you need to create a post that gives your followers step-by-step instructions on how to view your posts first, as well as a screenshot image showing where that option is on your page and how to choose it.
And, if you need any additional help, we've recently announced our new social media plan that will help your business work with the algorithm change, not against it.
