CCPA was first enacted in June 2018 but went into effect on January 1, 2020.

Which Companies Have to Comply With CCPA?
The California Consumer Privacy Act has a few thresholds that companies must be at to comply with the law:
- Companies that serve residents in California and make at least $25 million in annual revenue.
- Companies of any size that have personal data of 50,000 people or more or if the company collects more than half their revenue from selling personal data.
- Companies don’t need to be based in California/United States or have a physical storefront (think e-commerce).
