Photos on Places page can enhance storefront visibility

Google is offering a new feature to increase a company's visibility with the help of professional photographers.

The recently launched Business Photos from Google provides high-quality images that would accompany a business' contact information on its Google Places page. Using Google's Street View technology, a 360 degree picture of the establishment can be made available to potential customers.

Jason Hennessey, CEO of the SEO agency Everspark Interactive, believes the service can benefit businesses such as restaurants and night clubs the most, because potential customers can see before they go whether something is hip and trendy.

"This allows real businesses to stand out from the crowd," Hennessey tells BusinessNewsDaily. He believes photos can benefit smaller companies because they "create a sense of trust."

For now, Google is limiting its services to a few choice U.S. cities, including Phoenix, Arizona, St. Petersburg, Florida and San Antonio, Texas. Photos will also be taken at stores outside the states, in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea and France. For now, the service is limited to business types that are searched for most often, such as restaurants, hotels, retail shops, gyms, salons and repair shops.
