Bing recently announced the latest update to Bing Apps for Windows 8. The Bing Search blog pointed out that it released six apps back in October 2012 - news, finance, weather, sports, maps and travel - and as of just a few days ago, the company started the first of a series of rollouts for the apps.
"Starting today we are rolling out a significant set of updates across the apps that make it easier to customize and personalize them to best suit your needs," the blog stated.
Living up to its claims, Bing has upgraded the collection of apps to make it more useful and personally relevant for users. The news app can be customized to fit users' news preferences, the finances section allows users to manage their accounts, and the travel app lets people research ideal vacation destinations and flip through photos or book flights and hotels.
The maps app has upgraded tools to help people find time-saving directions with multiple transportation options and traffic updates. But it also helps users keep track of the places they have been and visit frequently by allowing them to save places or pin them for easier access. The new app may come into play with local search as marketers look to reach target audiences on a wide variety of devices.
