A Search Marketing Benchmark Report from SEO resource MarketingSherpa found that content creation is the most effective way to increase local SEO ranking, but it's also the most difficult to implement, Search Engine Watch reports.
The report surveyed 1,530 marketing experts and contained more than 150 analytical charts on the subject of SEO. In addition to content, the study indicated that other effective methods business owners should deploy include title tags, meta descriptions, a good URL structure, SEO landing pages and keyword research.
Furthermore, companies should focus their SEO strategies more on planning rather than responding to issues, create a consistent set of SEO guidelines, implement transition phases of SEO maturity and utilize local search optimization tactics.
These local approaches include matching a physical address to a listing address, verifying ownership of a company's Google Places page, providing high-quality inbound links and having proper category associations for citations, the news source notes in a separate article.
The study is becoming increasingly more comprehensive, as 595 more experts responded to this year's survey compared to last year.
